Latching Solutions for E-Mobility
With the development of e-cars, the network of e-charging stations is continuously expanding. A total of almost 60,000 public charging points are currently registered with the Federal Network Agency – a landscape of enclosures that require a reliable locking solution to securely house the power connections of the charging points with the corresponding equipment. Protection from the weather and vandalism: Charging stations for electric cars are mostly located in publicly accessible outdoor areas and are not only exposed to the weather, but also to vandalism. In order to protect the enclosures, which are so important for the infrastructure, from damage of this kind, the switch cabinets should be securely locked. To this end, handles have been developed that comply with resistance class RC2 in line with DIN EN 1630 and can therefore withstand vandalism damage by opportunist thieves.
It is important to note that a latch with a profile half cylinder is used to ensure that the charging station cannot be broken open too easily. If several groups of people, for example two different service providers, need access, we recommend a dual-key cylinder swinghandle with pivotable operating lever.
Highest Demands
Our products meet all e-Mobility requirementsWe won’t leave you out in the rain. Because we know that most charging stations for electric cars are located outdoors and are often exposed to extreme influences such as
- Heavy rain, snow, hail
- Temperature change
- UV radiation
- Pollution
That’s why we develop closure solutions specifically for outdoor use that can withstand even the most extreme conditions and remain functional in the long term.
We play it safe: in order to optimally protect our closure solutions against corrosion, we only use high-quality materials for outdoor use.
These are given a special surface finish with a UV-resistant powder coating. But that’s not all. To round off our closure systems, we offer push-on profiles made of synthetic rubber.
A long service life is a matter of course for us. That’s why we only use high-quality materials such as stainless steel or powder-coated die-cast zinc and can last for decades.
In combination with our sophisticated design and solid workmanship, these materials are so robust that they can reliably withstand vandalism by opportunist thieves.
We offer no attack surface: our locking solutions for outdoor use have beveled or rounded edges or flat superstructures. This means that our products cannot be used as climbing aids.
With smooth and flat surfaces there is a reduced opportunity for hammer or crowbar attacks. Some of our solutions therefore meet the requirements of Resistance Class RC2.
Due to the long service life of rail vehicles, the use of high-quality products with a permanently secure fastener and special protection against vibration and shock is essential.
We have therefore placed great emphasis on vibration and shock resistance in our product developments. Vibration and shock tests have shown that all tested products comply with the following basic and test standard: DIN EN 61373
