Latching Solutions for Rail Transport

In addition to industrial housing construction and mechanical and plant engineering, we also focus on transportation applications. The customized solutions for rail transport in particular have been tried and tested for decades and meet the special requirements of users in terms of tightness, vibration resistance and protection even at high speeds.

The service life of rail vehicles requires particularly high-quality and durable products that guarantee a secure fastening at all times – in the interior, exterior and all applications of the rail transportation infrastructure.

Using latches with a latch position indicator not only saves time, but also increases the safety of users and passengers in rail vehicles.

With these products, you can see at a glance what state the latch is in (open or closed).

The products on rail vehicles are exposed to extreme weather conditions outdoors:

Pollution
Temperature change
UV radiation or similar.

All these factors require the product and the material used to be highly resistant. With this in mind, we develop solutions that withstand the respective conditions and guarantee safe operation.

The most common causes of fire in rail vehicles are deliberate or negligent arson and defects in the electrical systems.

A test scenario was developed especially for this emergency, which divides the products into various applications and fire protection classes and thus exposes them to temperatures of up to 1,000 °C for different lengths of time.

Some of our products have been subjected to this test. They meet the E60 classification (corresponds to 60 minutes at up to 1,000 °C) – with certificate.

Our product solutions with compression offer the user a high level of convenience when opening and closing. They enable uniform contact pressure at the same time and thus ensure tightness.

High-quality technology is thus protected against the ingress of dirt, dust or water. Thanks to the possibility of installing the latches both surface-mounted visibly and completely internally, the products offer a wide range of possible applications in the areas of “interior”, “exterior” and “infrastructure”.

Due to the long service life of rail vehicles, the use of high-quality products with a permanently secure fastener and special protection against vibration and shock is essential.

We have therefore placed great emphasis on vibration and shock resistance in our product developments. Vibration and shock tests have shown that all tested products comply with the following basic and test standard: DIN EN 61373
